May Cottage is a delightful 200 year old cottage situated in the heart of Tywardreath. The cottage is well equipped, sleeps 5 comfortably and has a large enclosed south facing garden. Located 15 minutes walk from the sea and within reach of Eden, Heligan, and the beautiful coastal paths.
May Cottage sleeps 5 in three bedrooms, 1 double, 1 twin and one single. The cosy living room has digital TV, DVD player, video and CD system. There is a fully equipped kitchen/breakfast room with dishwasher, oven, ceramic hob, fridge, microwave, and TV.
May Cottage is a charming, terraced, three bedroom cottage with a large enclosed rear garden, providing up to 5 with comfortable accommodation. On street parking is available outside the cottage. The cottage is conveniently located in the heart of Tywardreath, the village featured in Daphne du Maurier’s “House on the Strand” with easy access to the beach at Par Sands (15 minutes walk) and many local beauty spots and famous Cornish attractions to visit. The village is only 4 miles from the historic port of Fowey. It is ideal for walkers and families alike.
The cottage comprises of the following accommodation.
Downstairs
Kitchen/breakfast room with Bosch oven, ceramic hob, fridge, microwave, crockery, cutlery and all items for self-catering. Pine table and chairs and pine dresser. There is also a colour TV in this room.
Living room – a cosy room with comfortable chairs, TV (with freeview), video, DVD player, CD system and a selection of videos, games, local information, maps and books.
There is a spacious tiled hall downstairs.
Upstairs
One double bedroom which overlooks the back garden. One twin bedroom and one single bedroom.
The bathroom has a wash hand basin, toilet, bath with power shower over, heated towel rail, mirror and shaver point.
Hairdryer and hot water bottles provided.
Outside
There is a large enclosed rear garden mainly laid to lawn. Outdoor garden furniture is provided. There is an outhouse with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Duvets and pillows are provided on all beds, linen is not usually provided but is available, if required, at an extra cost. Prices are exclusive of electricity and this is paid for after your visit. Our guests, many of whom return year after year, usually spend less than £10.00 a week on electricity.
As a courtesy to all our visitors the cottage is a non-smoking area. We regret that we are unable to accommodate pets.
Bookings are on a Friday to Friday basis during busy times – we can accommodate short breaks and other dates out of the main season. A 20% deposit is payable on booking and the balance is due three weeks before the commencement of the holiday. The deposit is refundable on cancellation if the cottage is re-let. We can accept no liability for accidents or loss to hirers.
The village has a post-office, butchers (with award winning sausages), pub, general store and great fish and chip shop. There is a local beach at Par Sands and a number of smaller and more varied beaches within a close distance. Both the north and south coasts are accessible for day trips and the Eden Project is 5 miles away. Charlestown (just a few miles away) provides a perfect setting for an evening stroll around the harbour with its Tall Ships and the local pubs provide good quality, good value food and welcome children.
By rail:- Most mainline trains stop at Par which is our nearest train station and about four miles away (Rail enquiries 08457 48 49 50). Taxis are usually available but it would be wise to telephone one in advance: Ray Curtis – 01726 832 676 or Mike Brokenshire – 01726 832 429.
By air:- fly to Newquay Airport which is 28 miles from Fowey. Daily flights by Air Southwest (from London Gatwick) and Ryanair (from Stansted). Flights also to Plymouth (35 miles approx) from other regional airports.
By Coach:- There are regular National Express services to St Austell and St Blazey.
By local bus:- A regular bus service runs between St Austell and Fowey via Tywardreath, Par and St Blazey. Timetable enquiries+ 08706 082 608

Tywardreath is ideally located to explore the whole of Cornwall. May Cottage is located in Tywardreath, a village situated 4 miles from Fowey and is an ideal base for exploring the whole of Cornwall.
DIRECTIONS
From the A30, take the Bodmin exit. About ¼ mile further, take the left turn – signposted Liskeard and then Lanhydrock. At the next junction turn left again – this brings to a large roundabout. Take the first exit, again signposted Liskeard, this takes you over the A30 and you will shortly find a roundabout, turn right, second exit to Lanhydrock and Lostwithiel. Take this road for about ¾ of a mile to a small roundabout on the B3269. Continue on the B3269 until the t-junction with the A390, turn right, and shortly afterwards turn left onto the B3269 signposted to Fowey. Continue until you reach Castledore hamlet and turn right to Tywardreath passing Trenython Manor on left. Upon reaching the village, May Cottage is located on the left-hand side as you go down the hill.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
This area is an excellent centre for exploring the many and varied attractions of Cornwall and even West Devon. Eden, with its exotic gardens under the glass biodomes, is five miles away and accessible via St Blazey (tickets are available for purchase locally to avoid delay on arrival). The Lost Gardens of Heligan are within half an hour and there are many other beautiful gardens to visit. Truro, the county town is about forty minutes and Falmouth with its Maritime Museum a little further. There are many National Trust properties within a short drive, notably Lanhydrock. The local leisure centre, on the way to Bodmin has a wonderful pool and many other facilities. The town itself is famous for its steam railway and Lostwihiel, 5 miles away if the antiques centre of Cornwall.
