Tides Reach has wonderful, 180 degree, uninterrupted views of the river looking across to Polruan and out to sea. The views are spectacular and add something special to the luxury accommodation close to the town centre facilities.

This property is ideally situated on Fowey’s premier water fronting Esplanade. It has been recently refurbished to a very high standard on two floors. Accommodation is suitable for four plus a baby, in two bedrooms, bathroom, living room, luxury kitchen, hall and porch. The views are outstanding.

The property, Tides Reach, in a splendid Victorian house, is situated on Fowey’s premier water fronting Esplanade, yet just a short walk to the quaint town, quays, shops, pubs and restaurants. It has been recently refurbished to provide stylish accommodation with a contemporary atmosphere on two floors. The facilities are suitable for four plus a baby.

Main access to this elevated house is from the Esplanade, up a few steps to the spacious front porch where you could sit and admire the harbour views. A staircase leads up from the front door to the elegant hall which has doors to the living room, bathroom and second bedroom. The large, light and airy living/dining room has a luxury area kitchen with fully integrated appliances – large fridge/freezer, gas hob, electric pyrolitic oven, microwave, dishwasher. There is a good selection of pots, pans, cutlery and crockery, and dining table and chairs.

The lounge area is comfortably equipped with sofa (-bed for occasional use) and easy chairs, television, DVD and radio/CD player. The views from the large bay window are spectacular and provide non stop interest and tranquil entertainment.

The modern bathroom has a full size bath with shower over, toilet and wash-basin. A cot, stair gate and high chair are also available.

The master bedroom is downstairs, again with wonderful views, and has a 5ft king-sized bed, television and radio-alarm. A door leads to the en-suite shower-room, which has a large showering area, toilet and wash-basin.

Bed linen is provided.

The property has full gas-fired central heating. Gas, electricity and heating are included. Note that not all mobile telephones work well in Fowey: Orange reception is good but O2 and Vodaphone patchy.

Parking is at a premium in Fowey, however, parking is provided for one car at the rear of the property. Access is via the back door which leads up to Daglands Road. Additional parking is available in the town’s car parks either daily or weekly (details and weekly tickets available from Tourist Information – 01726 833 616 or Council Offices 01726 223 303

At the front of the house is a patio, overlooking the river, with table and chairs.

There many wonderful beaches within a reasonable distance. On our doorstep, below the house is Whitehouse beach which is quite tiny, but with a sea-water paddling pool and only two minutes stroll. Five minutes walk takes you to Readymoney Cove with a bigger sandy beach.

Fowey also boasts a good selection of quality restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops. There are also strong literary connections – Daphne Du Maurier spent most of her life in the area, firstly at Bodinnick and then nearby Polkerris – Sir Arthur Quiller Couch “Q” lived here and wrote about Troy Town – and Kenneth Grahame penned Wind in the Willows on the river. The Du Maurier Festival is held in May.

Available throughout the year.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
The ancient town of Fowey retains an unspoilt charm with a fascination for visitors of all ages. The medieval and Tudor cottages, narrow winding streets with glimpses of the river below busy with yachts and boats, cobbled walkways perfumed with the flowers from hanging baskets and window boxes and the quays bustling with life all help to create a unique atmosphere.

Interesting buildings abound- from ‘Place’ the large home of the Treffry family overlooking the town and the early medieval ‘Old House of Foye’ to the Ship Inn and Saint Catherine’s Castle built in the 15th and 16th centuries. The lovely parish church of St Fimbarrus has a Norman font.

Fowey is famous for sailing and fishing, and diving is now becoming popular. Boats, canoes and fishing tackle can be hired locally. Late August sees the arrival of many enthusiastic sailors and spectators for the annual Regatta, together with many other activities and the display by the Red Arrows

Fowey is an excellent centre for exploring all the many and varied attractions of Cornwall and West Devon. Eden, with its exotic gardens under the biodomes, is about fifteen minutes away (tickets can be purchased locally to avoid delay on arrival). The Lost Gardens of Heligan are within half an hour and have a special interest and delight. Truro, our county town is about forty minutes and Falmouth with its Maritime Museum a little further. There are many National Trust properties and gardens within but a short drive.

Newquay and Padstow, on the North coast have different characters and coastlines from the south and are only 40 minutes away.

Several good golf courses are close by. Cycling, for both the fit enthusiast who can enjoy the climbs, and those who prefer pottering along the well maintained tramways and disused railways, is a delight.

The area has something for everyone.

Sorry, no smoking.

Children welcome.
