The cottage overlooks a newly constructed garden with Victorian villa, lawns herbaceous and shrub borders. It has been newly refurbished with a comfortable double bed, leather suite and a washroom & toilet with a separate shower. From the 29th Oct ,06 the ETB has given us a 5 star top rating.
Tall Ships is a recently built house set in the beautiful harbourside village of Charlestown with its own self contained cottage, only 500 yards from the sea. Charlestown is now a WORLD HERITAGE SITE. The cottage is in the grounds and is a B&B self contained. Now Quality in Tourism Rating 5 STAR.
Standing in a walled garden and has complete privacy and is only half a mile off the A390 in the centre of Charlestown. WE ARE OPEN ALL YEAR
Tall ships cottage is self contained with bed & breakfast.
The cottage is bright and airy and has its own heating which can be controlled by the occupants to ensure that you feel comfortable. Breakfast is served in the cottage at a time to suit our guests and is flexible to a point. The cottage has two wardrobes and lots of drawer space and is fully carpeted throughout.
The two washrooms each contain heated towel rails and a shower with plenty of hot water available. Towels provided. We only use local produce such as the Cornish kippers and haddock, also the produce for the full English breakfast are from a local butcher and from local shops - all Cornish fare.
Visitors may choose any menu (Vegetarian included) .
All food is freshly prepared to order.
The cottage can accommodate two guests and we aim to make our visitors as comfortable as possible in a relaxed atmosphere on a one to one basis.
The cottage has provisions for the guests to make their own fresh coffee and tea and there is also a small fridge for cold drinks etc.
The TV has 35 channels and a VHS/DVD player. We also provide a radio, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Two bicycles are availble for customers use. Costs are £30 per person per night with two sharing ,two nights minimum. One night occupancy
charged as single supplement all year round. I.E. £40 P.P.P.N. Secure parking. Payment by cash or cheque with bankers card. We do not accept credit cards.
DIRECTIONS
By Car -
Follow the A390 from Liskeard through Lostwithiel towards St Austell. From the first large roundabout through St Blazey, straight across to St Austell. On the outskirts of St Austell go past Tesco to your right 500yards further on is a large roundabout.
Take the first exit to Charlestown sign, past the Church Rd on your left then Eleven Doors is 400 yards further down the hill, the first turning on the right along a tarmaced lane. Tall Ships is the first house on your right.
From the A30. Follow signs for St Austell, then pick up the A 390 and follow the directions for Charlestown or the directions from the A390 above. Main Bus & Train Services.
Services stop at St Austell, train & bus station regularly. We can pick you up from these locations
as part of the service. Also from the Newquay airport.
By Air -
Newquay airport is approximately 20 minutes drive away which can be reached from Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol and London, and of course the Scilly Ises can be reached from Newquay by airbus.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Tall Ships lies on the southern coastal footpath and has several small beaches and coves all within easy walking distance. There is also the coastal cyclepath two minutes away.
Charlestown is of course famous as the home of the 'Tall Ships' and has usually at least three ships in the Port at any time of the year. you may also visit 'on board' in the summer months to get the atmosphere of how the Seamen of the 18th century used to live.
There are four eighteen hole golf courses within a short drive and theatres in St Austell and Truro. Of course there are one hundred gardens to visit, several within minutes, including Eden, Lanhydrock, Pine Lodge and Heligan.
Smoking is not allowed in the cottage due to sensitive fire alarms, but guests may smoke in the Victorian Villa or the garden.
Pets by arrangement. We have a two cats so dogs on a lead please.
