The home of the World Parrot Trust, Paradise Park has twice been voted Cornwall's Holiday Attraction of the Year.
Paradise Park has funded educational projects in St Lucia and Dominica, and sponsored research in this country into the re-introduction of the Cornish Chough. Paradise Park is also committed to improving local populations of Barn Owls and Otters.
Paradise Park was opened in 1973 after many years of planning and hard work. It was Mike Reynolds who first had the idea of creating a place which could be home to his growing collection of birds. He imagined a sheltered spot, with large aviaries set in beautiful gardens - and he thought this would give him a peaceful life in Cornwall, which he had visited so often from his home in Kent.
Now, there's much more to see at Paradise Park than the fabulous collection of rare and endangered parrots. There are owls, birds of prey, otters, penguins, a farm full of animals, Fort Paradise, the Paradise Railway, Glanmor House, and the Walled Gardens.
There is a full timetable of events during the main holiday season, Easter to mid-September. The penguins and otters are fed twice every day, and the large group of Rainbow Lorikeets in the Australian Aviary also have regular feeding sessions - a great opportunity to get close to these little parrots.
The Eagles of Paradise fly every day in the summer season, and look out for our Free Flying Bird Show, helping to explain bird behaviour in an entertaining way.
