Paragliding is a hill-based, free flight, foot launched aviation sport similar to hang gliding and should not be confused with parachuting or parascending. Paragliders are controlled by pulling control handles and by weight shift. The paragliders themselves are lightweight and fit into a rucksack so there is no great load to carry back up the hill when you are learning. When you are experienced you can, of course, soar ridges and thermal to cloud base in a similar way to hang gliding. Cornwall Paragliding is based at 28 Parc an Bans, Camborne.TR14 7RW.Tel : 0700 5980362. For further details go to cornwallparagliding.co.uk

Cornwall is the home of sea cliff climbing. In 1902 A.W Andrews first conceived the idea of sea cliff climbing on the cliffs of West Penwith. Since then it has spread to many other parts of the world. Cornwall still retains its place amongst the great experiences for this type of climbing. It has a unique variety of rock types and routes to suit all grades of climber, be they expert or novice. West Penwith (Lands End Area) is the very centre for climbing on superb rough granite sea cliffs, cliffs which are swept clean by the Atlantic surf. Cliffs which are particularly excellent for the teaching of free style (adventure) climbing. Added to this is the warm and temperate weather which this area usually enjoys throughout the climbing season. Further details go to Compass West International School Of Rock Climbing or Cornwall: Cornish rock climbing.
