About us

Every month at Cornwall Today we strive to give you a contemporary portrait of Cornwall. Not an easy task when you consider the diverse and unique make-up of the county, its geography and history, not to mention the blend of year-round visitors passing through as well as those who have lived and worked here for generations.

How to reconcile so many different, vibrant and compelling strands in one publication? The planting of tropical rainforest with the mining industry? The pasty or scone with the likes of Nathan Outlaw or Jamie Oliver? Surfboads with fishing boats? Actually, the answer isn’t so complex, because all these things are interlinked. Eden exists because of the mining industry, fishermen and surfers share the same love of the sea and pasty shops co-exist happily with Stein’s bistro in Padstow. We represent them all in Cornwall Today.

Our aim is to celebrate this diversity by means of evocative images and engaging writing. Our regular features cover historical houses and beauty spots, wildlife news, Cornwall’s amazing art scene, the latest food developments, local shops and businesses, gardens and spa breaks. In short, a whole lot of Cornishness is distilled for your enjoyment each month, so that you know what’s going on where and, thanks to half an hour or so with our magazine, feel inspired to get out and explore Cornwall. We’re not afraid to tackle the difficult issues of the 21st century either, from the environment to industry, and we encourage reader responses to any article in Postbag, a page dedicated to your thoughts.

If you already live here, we challenge you to learn more about this complex region and become more immersed in its history and culture. If youre passing through, read Cornwall Today find out what’s going on beyond the well-trodden tourist trail.

But whoever you are, cherish, treasure and enjoy Cornwall.
