The Driftwood Spars is putting some extra sizzle into their ever-popular Sausage and Ale festival.
This year the St Agnes pub will go the extra mile to celebrate the perfect pairing of real ale and the classic British banger with a number of beer-inspired sausage dishes.
The eighth annual Sausage and Ale Festival will be held between Friday, May 1 and Monday, May 4.
Working with local Perranporth butcher Chapman and Co, sausages will be dressed up exclusively for the festival with award-winning tipple Alfie’s Revenge.
Drifty landlady, Louise Treseder said: “We are delighted to be focusing so strongly on matching food with beer this year. “Alcohol is a natural flavour enhancer which is why our head chef Terry has taken the strong rich ale of Alfie’s Revenge and matched it with the classic Cumberland to create a unique sausage just for the occasion.”
An extra-special festival menu will be on offer with sausage platters and other snag-based eats, including kangaroo sausages, traditional toad in the hole and even an ale mayonnaise dressed scotch egg board. With 20 beers from around the UK, 6 ciders and alcoholic Ginger Beer handpicked by the Driftwood team, the festival is set to remain a staple in the summer diary for local beer and sausage enthusiasts.
Throughout the weekend attendees will also get to experience live entertainment.
- First to take to the stage on Friday night at 9pm will be Mikey Gray will with guitar-fueled classics and an injection of witty banter whilst Saturday from 9pm will see Yorkshire based, Barcode Zebra return with soul-tinged pop funk.
- An open-mic session will take place on the Sunday afternoon from 3pm.
- On Monday Du Hag Owr will be singing some classic shanty songs from about 3pm.
