Clean Cornwall Week, sponsored by Rodda’s, begins from 19 – 26 September 2015. The partnership is raising awareness of litter in our communities and is encouraging people in the county to help #StopLitter.
To launch the campaign, Clean Cornwall and Rodda’s conducted an experiment to find out how many people would pick up litter on their local high street. They’ve released a video to promote the surprising results. In two hours Falmouth and Truro, 266 people walked within a metre of the rubbish; only 2 people stopped to put it in a nearby bin (that’s less than 1%). The video can be viewed here: http://cleancornwall.org/ or by the video below.
Rodda’s and Clean Cornwall will also be joining the Camborne Clean and Green group after their regular litter pick on 20 September with a thank you cream tea party.
How to get involved:
People wanting to get involved can join one of the many already planned litter picks taking place across the county or can organise their own. Information on all the picks and advice on how to get involved can be found at: www.cleancornwall.org/joinin
Volunteer Cornwall is teaming up with Clean Cornwall and asking people to pick up 2 extra pieces of litter each during Clean Cornwall Week. They hope that by everyone doing their bit, we can remove 1 million pieces of litter from our beaches, hedgerows and streets. #deedaday
During the first week of November Surfers Against Sewage are running their Autumn Beach Clean Series.
