The team at Hallagenna Riding in St Breward were closely involved in the filming of the new Poldark series, with their instructor Jen helping the team at Atkinson Action Horses, who supplied the horses and trained the cast during filming.
To celebrate, the team at Hallagenna have launched a brand new Poldark Trail. During this trail you visit several of the sites used for filming to get a real feel for “Poldark” country. Because the terrain is quite demanding, this trail will be available to Experienced Riders (riders comfortable at walk, trot and canter).
The Poldark Trail:
From Hallagenna you cross Ladydown Common through Bolatherick, passing Ivy Common. Continue on, passing King Arthurs Hall and on towards Roughtor and Brown Willy, the highest point in Cornwall and home to numerous ancient settlements. Then head around the back of Roughtor, enjoying breathtaking views of the whole of Cornwall. You then visit Logans Rock and down to Watergate. This leads us over the ancient packhorse trail and on to Alex Tor. Throughout the trail you will experience countryside and terrain ridden by those filming both the original and the forthcoming Poldark series.
The trail is available as 2 hours (£50 per person) or 4 hours (£100 per person).
For those more adventurous riders we can offer a full days trail passing through areas around the famous Jamaica Inn, also featured during the filming of Poldark.
A shorter ride is available to novice riders through countryside which is familiar to the area used in the filming. From £20 per person.
