From February 2 through to July 5, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth will be hosting the Stranded exhibition featuring colourful tapestries created by weaving artist Jo Atherton.
But these are no ordinary tapestries. They are in fact woven from flotsam collected along the coasts of Cornwall and Norfolk, which includes fishing lines, netting and an eclectic mix of discarded items that make up Jo’s playful, vibrant pieces creations.
By reinventing and weaving these forgotten fragments into new narratives, Jo gives them a second chance to mean something by drawing our attention to wastefulness and the effects of beach litter. Find out more at www.nmmc.co.uk
