An historic Newquay hotel is inviting the community to join in its 145th birthday celebrations.

The Great Western Hotel in Cliff Road is staging a birthday weekend in aid of the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust.

on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7.

A children’s silent disco will be held on the Saturday between 4pm and 5.30pm and a St Austell Brewery Takeover will be staged at 7pm.

Various events are being held on the Sunday including former general managers meeting with Newquay Museum at 3pm, live music with singer Daisy Clark between 3pm to 5pm and a pub quiz with DJ Beaker at 8pm. 

Lucie the assistant manager said: “It will be 145 years since we opened our doors at The Great Western for the first time and we would like to celebrate with the whole of Newquay and everyone that's visited us or worked here. 

“We have a children’s silent disco on Saturday afternoon, St Austell Brewery pub takeover on Saturday night, former general managers will be meeting with Newquay Museum on Sunday and then we will have a quiz as well all in aid of St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust.

“Everyone is invited. 

“It will be a good weekend hopefully full of former staff and customers that have visited us in the past and still love to come.

“We will have a display of old photos provided by Newquay Museum and our hotel archivist William Emmett.”
