25th April- Friday 1st May 2015.
Open every day 10.30-5.30pm – Saturday 25th April 12-7pm
This is a first solo exhibition for Margaret Deans, a West Cornwall artist who paints en plein air .It is about the particularity of place, this site, this weather, this hour, this season, it is about how each place changes within the day, the moment or the time of year. That moment when light and landscape interact to create drama or harmony, joy or thoughtfulness.
Margaret lives on the Cornish coast and her work is fuelled by changing light and weather, by poetry and by the rhythm of life in all its rich variety. Her painting process involves immersion in the landscape by walking in the elements, small sketches are the starting point and work may be completed there or developed later in the studio. Since the powerful threatening and beautiful storms of 2014 Margaret has made a number of seascapes on a large scale which encapsulate her love of the sea but also the threat it poses to coastal properties on the crumbling edges of West
Cornwall. There will be large and small paintings for sale, as well as artists cards.
