Beer and Mussel Festival

6Z1A9898Rick Stein will host the annual Beer and Mussel Festival at The Cornish Arms in St. Merryn this weekend on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday 22.

There will be 40 different local beers and ciders to try, including an exclusive festival beer called Merryn Merrier from St. Austell Brewery, which will be raising money for St. Merryn Primary School.

Rugby lovers won’t miss a try with all three RBS 6 Nations matches being screened in the pub and on screens around the marquees.

For Rick Stein fans and foodie lovers, there will be a book signing on Saturday from 11:30am followed by a cookery demo with Jack Stein.

Throughout both days there will of course be freshly cooked mussels on offer including a recipe designed by the Stein’s exclusively for the event. Not a mussel lover? Enjoy a slow-cooked pulled pork roll, one of Rick’s favourite curries or Spanish churros donuts with cinnamon and real hot chocolate.

There will also be a dedicated children’s corner throughout the weekend with face painting and a colouring competition that offers the chance to win a children’s course at Padstow Seafood School.

The Boscastle Buoys and The Stowes will be bringing their traditional Cornish folk and shanty singing to the festival, whilst Bristol based C90’s get everyone in the mood for a late night disco with Taz DJay. Sunday brings a more relaxed acoustic set by Guy James teamed with the big charity pub quiz.
