Halloweden spells positive potions and freaky fun this half term

Halloweden at the Eden Project in Cornwall promises to be an absolute scream with a cauldron full of fun activities over the half-term holidays (October 24 to November 1).

The much-loved annual spook-tacular invites all the family to get involved in a web of magical craft activities and dares them to be scared.

Visitors will go on a mystical journey through the world-famous Biomes on a quest to brew up a special positive potion.

First stop will be to collect a scroll and a vial on arrival at the Visitor Centre. After that they can head to the Rainforest Biome and begin to create their own positive potion.

Next stop is to mix it altogether and create some magic in the world of wonder and intrigue in the Wishcraft Tent, which comes complete with its very own Tunnel of Terrors and gallery of craftily-carved pumpkins. Here, visitors can brew up some bubbles, learn how to make a wand and enjoy spine-tingling shadow puppet plays.

To add to the Halloweden fun, there will be face-painting, performances and storytelling throughout the week.

There is also the chance to meet some amazing feathered friends courtesy of the Screech Owl Sanctuary, and wood carvery demonstrations in the Core education centre.

In keeping with the Halloweden theme, there will be plenty of ghoulish grub on the menu, including monster ribs, gory guts sausages, roasted bat wings, Day of the Dead vegetable enchiladas, creepy coleslaw, eyeball pizzas and a selection of spooky cakes and sweet treats.

A highlight of the week will be the Little Monsters’ Ball Halloween disco party on Saturday October 31, a chance to deck out in fancy dress for a spooky evening of fang-tastic fun.

There’ll be plenty of creepy activities, tasty treats in the cafes and a bone-shaking disco in the Olive Grooveyard.

All Halloweden activities are included in the standard Eden Project admission price, with the exception of Little Monsters’ Ball, which costs £7 per person and ice skating sessions which cost £6 per person.

At the Little Monsters’ Ball, children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times while on site, with a maximum of four children per adult.

Tickets can be booked through www.edenproject.com.
