Help with your Cornish family tree

DSC_0133The not for profit family history organisation FamilySearch has recently launched a free guide to those who are researching ancestral links to Cornwall.

Features include articles on each of Cornwall’s 350+ Anglican parishes loaded with descriptions of records available online at major websites including Ancestry.co.uk, Cornwall Online Parish Clerks, Cornwall Parish Register Index, FamilyRelatives, FamilySearch.org, FindMyPast.co.uk, FreeReg, TheGenealogist.co.uk, Google Books, and Internet Archive.

The guide also helps researchers to access those Cornish parish registers which are now available online. Genealogists will find tables describing where to find parish registers online, maps to pinpoint places Cornish ancestors lived, advice on how to access and use major Cornwall archives and libraries, such as the Cornwall Record Office, The National Archives, and the Society of Genealogists Library.

The FamilySearch Cornwall Guide is available at familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Cornwall
