Martina Crkonova Spa manager
What’s your favourite treatment and why?
My personal favourite is our signature treatment, The Dreaming. In my eyes, such therapies give the client an element of the unknown, and with this one I have combined three very different body experiences into one unique, stunning ritual.
How does the spa and wellness industry make a difference in people’s lives?
I believe there is a need for more in-depth education on the proven psychological and emotional benefits of receiving spa treatments on a regular basis. Wellness became big at the beginning of this century, and while we are still struggling to agree on what it really means, we do know that hands-on therapeutic services are an essential part of it. It’s about the touch, the techniques and the space created for one to truly relax.
What makes the Headland Hotel a great place to come on a spa break?
Undoubtedly the location, good Cornish hospitality and the best selection of wellbeing therapies in Cornwall.
Kim Holnes Fitness instructor
What inspired you to become a fitness instructor?
I became a fitness instructor firstly for my own health, after recovering from an illness and being out of sport for four years, and secondly, I wanted to help people reach goals that they have set but may not be able to reach by themselves.
What makes the Headland’s Life Fitness Gym a great place to work out?
It’s a brand new facility, boasting top-of-the-range equipment which enables you to track your progress and keep in touch with your own personal goals. If we could only do three things to keep fit in 2014, what should they be?
1. Develop the right attitude, making realistic goals and improving on them to avoid slipping back into bad habits.
2. Give your body the fuel it needs - eat healthy and feel healthy. Cut out unhealthy snacks and swap them for healthy and nutritious foods.
3. Rest well - your body needs it. If you’re not getting enough sleep, it comes at a huge expense to your immune system, and you are much more likely to feel rundown.

What is it like working right beside the beach?
Nothing is better than working with beautiful Cornish views along the long sandy beaches. The views are amazing, whether stormy or calm. The smell of fresh Cornish air makes you feel relaxed and calm.
Jessica Hyland Spa therapist
What do you love about being a spa therapist?
That each day brings new faces and challenges, and that the aspired outcome is to improve the wellbeing of others.
Deborah Sims Spa co-ordinator
What is the spa’s best feature?
The Headland spa is a feature in itself. The reception/lounge is breathtaking as you walk down the main staircase of the hotel. But the best feature is the fantastic customer journey, which meets all expectations.
Rachel Holyoak Beauty therapist
How would you describe the Headland Spa?
It’s a luxury five “bubble-rated” state-of-the-art spa. It feels roomy, light, airy and more importantly, calming and tranquil.
Vicky Wall Spa therapist
What do you love about being a spa therapist?
My initial inspiration for becoming a therapist was to enhance my clients’ self-esteem and confidence. It’s an amazing trade to be part of, as you can often see the transformation in a client from when they arrive, to the time they leave.
Xavana Herrington Spa therapist
If you could have any treatment from the 2014 brochure, which would it be and why?
The Kerstin Florian Correcting Advanced Repair Facial. It’s a prescriptive facial designed to focus on individual skincare concerns. It leaves your skin feeling refreshed, revitalized and radiant, and you can see instant benefits.
