The history of boat building at Cornwall’s Maritime Museum

In a fascinating talk at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth next week, join Gary Mitchell as he explores the history of boat building in and around Mevagissey.

In this illustrated lecture on Wednesday, November 25 at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Gary will describe the complete life and work of his father G Percy Mitchell, an iconic name in westcountry boat building. Hear fascinating anecdotes about Percy’s trials and tribulations building over 360 boats of all kinds from dinghies to racing yachts, from the pre-war years to his semi-retirement in the 1960s.

The talk, entitled The Complete Boatbuilder’s Story will begin at 6.30pm.

Tickets costs £7 and include access to the Viking Voyagers exhibition from 5.30pm. To book your place, please call 01326 214546.
