Few locations in the UK are as iconic as St Michael’s Mount. A fairytale castle set atop an island shrouded in glorious green gardens in Mount’s Bay, near Marazion, St Michael’s Mount is undoubtedly the jewel in the crown of Cornish visitor attractions.
From Marazion, visitors can walk across to the island when the tide retreats to reveal the medieval causeway. At other times, the ferry service takes you from the wide, smooth sands of Marazion to the island and back again.
You can explore the island and village, the sub-tropical gardens (on certain days) and climb to the castle to discover more about the legends of the Mount and the intriguing history of the St Aubyn family, who still live in their ancestral home. One of the wonderful things about the Mount is that no matter how long you have lived in the county, or how many times you have visited the Mount, there always seems to be something new to discover. This month we are offering the chance to win a family day pass to St Michael’s Mount, and a cream tea for four in the Island Café, which offers beautiful views across Mount’s Bay. (Prize value £55.)
